Some of the Friends of the Cultural Arts Center talk about why they joined:
"Taking classes at the Cultural Arts Center has connected me with a wonderful community of instructors, students and support staff. Being part of the Friends is my way of strengthening that connection and helping support all the great people and programming."
"As an art teacher, I needed an outlet, a place outside the classroom to create my own art. The Cultural Art Center has provided me the space where I could flourish as an artist therefore becoming part of the Friends is my way of showing gratitude to a place that has provided me so much more than I hoped."
"The Cultural Arts Center has been part of my life since I lived across from the firehouse on Oak Street in the 60s. I have taken every class, substituted for instructors, and was the first Gallery Curator when the Center opened in the Arsenal in 1978. I am a working artist, a painter and ceramacist, and I am still taking classes. I joined the CAC Board because I am dedicated to maintaining a working creative environment in our city that exemplies the core idea of a place for making art directed to adult audiences, and promoting the practice of high standards of creative expression in a relaxed and congenial atmosphere."
"Formerly an instructor representative, Kristi is currently serving as Secretary, a member of the Gift Shop Committee, in addition to functioning as chair of the Collections Committee. A professional metalsmith, she has served many consecutive terms since the inception of The Arsenal Group (the non-profit's original name) because of her commitment to volunteerism/civic engagement and recognition of the phenomenal facility that is the Cultural Arts Center."
Sharone Putter: "The Cultural Arts Center is a gem of the city of Columbus and my home away from home. I love instructing art in this vibrant, diverse art community. It was a natural next step to join the Friends of the Cultural Arts Center, because I care."
