Cultural Arts Center to Hold Two-Day Workshop Exploring the Qualities of Working with Dyes
The Columbus Recreation and Parts Department’s Cultural Arts Center (CAC) will hold a two-day workshop on working with acid, indigo and MX dyes. Saturday and Sunday, August 14 and 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Christine Zoller, nationally known for her textile and instructor work, will lead the session. The class is limited to 25 students and costs $75.
“We will work with many fabric manipulation techniques to create a variety of patterns on the surface of the cloth so I can assure each student will be given the opportunity to explore a lot,” notes workshop leader Zoller.
Zoller obtained a Masters of Fine Arts in textile design from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. She is currently an Associate Professor and Textile Area Coordinator at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.
Her work has been exhibited internationally and throughout the United States and can been seen in such publications as Surface Design Journal and the Fiberarts Design Books Five and Six.
The Cultural Arts Center is home for the visual arts where both artists and non-artists, of all skill and interest levels, are encouraged to enjoy their programs and unique public facility. To register for this workshop call 645-7047.
